Partnership to Support the Ethnic Korean Community in Kazakhstan and Promote Corporate Social Responsibility and Healthcare Collaboration
Global healthcare company Open Healthcare Kazakhstan (CEO: Daeyoung Kim) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 19 in Almaty with the Association of Koreans in Kazakhstan (President: Yuri Chae). This agreement aims to support the ethnic Korean community in Kazakhstan, reinforce corporate social responsibility, and strengthen partnerships in the healthcare sector.
The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including President Yuri Chae and CEO Daeyoung Kim, who reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation for the advancement of healthcare and the promotion of community health within Kazakhstan. The two sides also discussed concrete collaborative measures to enhance regional healthcare access and improve the quality of services.
Key provisions of the MOU include: ▲Providing medical benefits to socially vulnerable populations in the region ▲Joint implementation of preventive healthcare and wellness campaigns ▲Enhancing health literacy through educational initiatives ▲Participating in social and cultural programs aimed at improving community health and well-being. This agreement underscores the shared goal of improving the health of local residents through community-centered and practical healthcare interventions.
CEO Daeyoung Kim stated, “Through this MOU, we will actively collaborate to meaningfully contribute to the enhancement of local healthcare services and the overall well-being of communities across Kazakhstan.”
President Yuri Chae added, “We anticipate that this partnership with Open Healthcare will help deliver high-quality, Korean-style medical services not only to ethnic Koreans but also to the broader population in Kazakhstan.”
Meanwhile, Open Healthcare plans to officially open the ‘Korean Medical Center Almaty’ in the Yasawi district of Almaty this September. The new center will serve as a forward base for delivering optimized Korean medical services in Kazakhstan, equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment and staffed by specialized professionals.
MOU Paves the Way for Medical Collaboration in Alatau Smart City
Following the signing of this MOU, the two leading institutions active in Kazakhstan plan to commence full-fledged discussions—centered around the hospital opening in September—for establishing a comprehensive medical support system for the ethnic Korean community and creating a medical hub across Central Asia.
This agreement goes beyond the opening of a hospital. It represents a strategic partnership aimed at building a long-term medical network and improving the overall standard of regional healthcare. Both parties are currently exploring various measures to expand medical infrastructure and enhance service capabilities.
Notably, this project is closely linked to the large-scale “Alatau” Smart City initiative, which is being overseen by President Yuri Chae and is set to be developed in Qonaev, Almaty Province. The establishment of an “expanded medical collaboration model” within the smart city is expected to encompass not only clinical services but also research, prevention, and wellness industries through an integrated healthcare system.
Building on this agreement, both sides aim to complete the foundation of a core healthcare platform within the Smart City through ongoing dialogue, with the ultimate ambition of positioning Kazakhstan—and the broader Central Asian region—as a major medical hub.
The hospital, slated to open this September, is expected to significantly contribute to the health and well-being of local residents, including the ethnic Korean community, by providing high-quality care supported by advanced medical equipment.
